you are here: OUTREACH

St. Augustine of Canterbury reaches out - into our community, into our city, into our nation, into our world - with compassion for those in need and with a passion for justice for all.

We use ad hoc seasonal planning groups to plan the seasons of Advent and Lent. This planning usually includes Outreach. In the recent past, we have donated goods, time and money to many groups such as the Food Bank, Women's Shelters, The Youth Emergency Shelter, Inner City Pastoral Ministries, The Remand Center, St. Faith's Church's Hot Meal Program and TERRA. Christmas offerings have been donated to the Christmas Bureau, No Room in the Inn, and Church of the North, while Easter offerings have gone to PWRDF, Ryan's Well and a Sunflower Seed Plant in Africa. Throughout the year we provide an economical Simple Supper for the community on the 4th Friday of each month. We provide meals for shut-ins as needed, and two or three times a year we provide lunches for the Bissell Center and for Habitat for Humanity builds.

St. Augustine's is one of the founding members of the Greater Edmonton Alliance. We have taken part in many of their campaigns for Affordable Housing and for sustainable food resources in the city. We are currently exploring issues in the area of long term care for seniors.

The current Vestry contact for Outreach at St. Augustine of Canterbury is CarrieAnn Thomas.

We strive to serve Christ locally, nationally, and internationally through outreach projects such as:

  • Primates World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF)
  • Tanzania Sunflower Oil Plant
